1.2 million members in 35,000 clubs
Rotary’s 1.2 million members are at home in over 35,000 clubs around the world. Rotary members have a wide variety of cultural backgrounds and professions, but one thing is important to all of them: improving their community and supporting those who need us most. That brings people together in Rotary.
Impact starts with our members — people like you who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Rotary clubs meet around the world every week. On the baseour club friendships we use the power of our globalNetwork to help people. All over.
Who can join?
We share humanitarian values and the belief that we sharedo something against poverty, disease and conflict. Andour current account speaks for it. Therefore we are always looking fordedicated and qualified members for our organization. Moreand more members of our youth organizations like Rotaract orformer Rotary fellows also join Rotary club members to.
But not everyone is suitable for membership. The clubs take great care to ensure that new members fit into the club community in terms of their professional and personal qualifications. And by invitation they determine who can become a member. That may sound elitist, but it is not. We just want to make sure that it works out in the club. Because that also has an impact on our humanitarian commitment.
Clubs accept new members by invitation. To help us find the right club for you, we’ll ask you a few questions about yourself and your interests. Then we’ll share your answers with Rotary leaders in your community who will match you with a club.
Our membership referral process
If you enjoy Rotary, our aim is to connect you with other people who care about the same things in life. Rotary clubs, however, are very independent and make sure that they can determine who is accepted into the club community.
We have therefore set up the following procedure:
You tell us your interest.
Tell us about yourself and what interests you in becoming a club member.
Rotary will forward your information to a club
Rotarians in your community will decide which club might be a good fit for you based on your interests and qualifications.
A club makes contact
if a club is interested, they will contact you to get to know you better.
Invitation or not?
Please do not be disappointed if a recording does not work out. As I said, clubs have their own membership ideas. It says nothing about your qualifications as a potential Rotarian! Maybe it will work out with another club. It is extremely important that there is mutual sympathy. After all, it should be a club membership for life!
Join Rotary
Each club welcomes its members individually, but usually as part of a small ceremony. We hope that you feel comfortable and involved in your new club from the start!
